A Small Double Buggy That's Easy to Push One-Handed and Carry Up and Down Stairs

If you're looking for a light double stroller that is easy to push with one hand and climb and descend steps, this is the one.

It has two fixed seats and can be configured with the possibility of up to 30 seating configurations (including triple!). Both seats come with UPF 50+ canopies and windows that peek out.

Size

The Joovy Kooper X2 is a double stroller that is side-by-side and can hold two children at up to 50lbs each. The seats are more spacious than other lightweight double strollers and the canopy is fitted with large sunshades with SPF 50 with peekaboo windows. Other notable features include a self-standing basket that has a a capacity of 25 lbs, cup holders for one parent and swing-away bars that help children get into and out their seats. It is a great choice for suburban and urban families. It is also baby-friendly with the double set which includes a wedgie for a lie-flat position.

Weight

The weight of double buggie will determine its ability to push. A lighter buggy is simpler to lift and transport, but may not have enough suspension to deal with bumps and uneven terrain.

Most double buggies come with a maximum weight per seat and some have total frame limits and it's important to check the details of each model before you purchase.  double pram and pushchair  fold with the seats removed to make them even smaller and lighter, which can be useful when storage space is at an all-time low.

The tri-fold doubles tend to be the lightest, since only one hand is required to lift the front and back sections. They are also smaller than side by side buggies and are able to fit through most doorways. The iCandy Geo 3 tri-fold double is one of lightest on the market. It is able to comfortably accommodate twins, or a toddler and baby.

Tandem buggies are initially a single pushchair and have adapters to accommodate a second seat, carrycot or car seat which makes them the ideal choice for expanding families. Some, like the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations so they can grow with your family until three children. They are heavier than tri-folds however, because the weight is evenly distributed, they are much easier to move around.

Folding

The most effective double buggies for young children can fold up in just a few minutes. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature as it helps them squeeze the buggies in the back of their vehicles and free up storage space when they are not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up on each seat and the entire thing folds down. Even our most experienced testers could do the tri-fold with only one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is another great option for a small double buggie. Its lightness is an advantage but also the features it has big pop-out canopy that come with SPF 50 protection as well as a the peek-a-boo window as well as swing-away bars to assist children get into and out of their seats; and reclined chairs and leg rests for toddlers.

Manoeuvrability

When selecting a compact double stroller, it is important to think about its maneuverability.  double pram pushchair  includes the ease for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Certain pushchairs are more efficient than others in this regard such as the iCandy Orange's "cinema seat" (where the back is elevated).

The narrow tandem buggies are excellent at this, as are side-by-side designs. However, these can be more substantial overall and can be tricky to maneuver through doors.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 is an excellent example of this, as it's a relatively compact pushchair that allows for two seats to be added and an important feature - a 'piggyback' board that can carry an additional child.

Other smaller, three-wheeled models such as the phil&teds Dot are extremely agile, particularly thanks to its clever 'dot kit which transforms into an inline buggy. It has two different seating options for children of different ages and the front seat can be rotated so that it faces parents to provide more intimate bonding. It also has a great storage basket and is easy to fold. This is a great option for growing families.

Comfort

Parents can keep both children within sight at the park, grocery store or anywhere else with narrow tandem buggies or side-byside buggies. These lightweight doubles can accommodate two children, up to 50 lbs each. They also come with pop-out canopy that can be extended far enough to provide real shade. They also come with cup holders that can be reversible and placed on the seatback. They also have a single parent cup holder, plus a large underseat basket.

If you're just beginning to build a growing family, you can add the double kit from phil&teds to your dot buggy to turn it into an inline double, perfect for newborns & toddlers alike.
